Need to find someone that can design an inexpensive voltage clamp - we have vehicle that runs 22-32 volts DC but need to power a specific piece of equipment with 24 volts @8amps.
The equipment is on a large bus type vehicle the charging for the new style of batteries ia optimal at 29-30volts - the equipment that I need to power has a voltage range of 18-28, this equipment will go into automatic shutdown at 29.1 - the low end is not a large concern but the top voltage is
Can you put 3 high power (15A) silicon rectifier diodes in series with the supply to the 24V, 8A equipement? The diodes would have to handle ~10W each depending on the diodes Vf. This would substract 3 forward voltage (Vf) drops from the 22V to 30V battery supply.
This solution would cheap and easy, but power wasteful.
