Hi I am new to electronics (still reading a book), and I'm trying to figure out if a small fan I bought is worth its price. Its actually a part for the wii... Its a fan that attaches to the back of the wii on the usb. It a part carried by circuit city only and since they are going out of buisenes(at least the one by here) I got it for sale. It was originaly 4 something. Its 40mm and im guesing it runs on 5v since its powered by usb. It has a manual speed control. Ill post a picture latter once the batteries for my camera charge.

Im trying to learn electronics to be able to power a few high power leds with solar cells and batteries. Since they get hot I was planning on using them along with heatsinks to cool them down. Since the fans are only about 3 dollars i was thinking on buying a few, but want to know if its a good deal.

Generally, any fan is better than none, IMO.

 

Are you using current limiting resistors with the LEDs to keep their current at a safe level?

 

$3 each for new 40mm fans? No shipping cost? Go for it.
