Hello all

I am doing an LED project where I need the LEDs to turn on immediately when a button is pushed but as soon as the button is released it starts to slowly fade out. The fade out time needs to be adjustable because it is for a theater performance and may needs adjusting once used on stage. I am hoping to use about 25 1 watt LEDs. Any help is greatly appreciated because I don't know where to start, I read I could use a 555 mixed with capacitors and resistors but not sure if that's what I should do.

Do you want one switch to control one LED or one switch controls all 25 LEDs?

How long is "slowly", 1, 3, 10, 30 seconds (minutes?)?

 

I want the button to control all 25 LEDS, if i could have the fade be between 3 to 5 minutes that would be great!
