I just picked up a box of electronics at an estate sale. At the bottom was the former owner's cub scout book from 1948. Instructions to make a vacuum tube radio surprised me. Kind of sparse. Either dads of yester-year were more intuitive than they are today or current instructions assume people are idiots, or ... (fill in your answer). Either way, this is for 8 to 10-year-olds.

Ahh! Of course. I forgot that the cub scouts was (is?) an advertising / entrapment mechanism of Sears Roebuck.

That is where we had to buy the official Pinewood derby kit, too!

Also, does anyone know what the clips on the far left of image in first post us called? Are they still available?

Still available, check the usual suspects (EBay, Amazon,...).

    Google is your friend.

I think so -- and, as regards a burgeoning percentage of 'current people', a sadly tenable assumption at that:rolleyes:
