Got this broken receiver for free. This state is a consequence of overheating.
After powering a receiver on, it shuts down itself after few seconds. LCD doesn't turn on either. Something is triggering a protection circuit. Anyone had similar problems?

I'll suggest that it is an issue with the power supply (bad electrolytic cap likely) or possibly a shorted transistor in the output section.

I haven't read all this or this, but maybe you should.

I'll put my focus on the power supply and check the elements.

This amp has a protection mode. If you have any short across your speaker terminals or the receiver outputs, you will get a fault.
