Description:
In my project i got one xor(2 input) and one nor(2 input) gate. Im using cmos and since there is 4 gates on each IC, and both have 3 unused gates. I would like to reduce it to one IC.

Question:
Do you know how to make an XOR from 3 NOR gates? OR the other way around.. NOR from 3 XOR gates.

 

To implement a XOR from NOR you need 5 NOR gates. Look here:

You can't make a NOR from XOR gates.

If you wanted to buy just one kind of gate, you could construct XOR and NOR gates from a 4093 Schmitt-trigger quad NAND gate; but you'd need four NAND gates for a single XOR or NOR gate.

Would a wired-OR (or diode-OR) circuit feeding into one input of an XOR ckt, with the other input tied high be feasible?

This is very simple (just 2 diodes and resistor).. Is the much timiing difference between this method and the IC option?
