I watched the game -- at least I checked in on it about every 10 to 20 minutes to see if anything had happened.

What is that annoying buzz in the stadium/background? Both channels that carried the game had it, so I assume it is not something in my television.

It is a crappy horn that everyone blows at the soccer games in South Africa.

The vuvuzela has been the subject of controversy. Its high sound pressure levels at close range can lead to permanent hearing loss for unprotected ears after exposure,[6] with a sound pressure of 120 dB(A) (the threshold of pain) at 1 metre (3.3 ft) from the horn opening.[4]
 
I watched a bunch of games and I got used to hearing the sound at each of the games. I don't know that I would have been as happy being at the games with someone blowing a horn in my ear, but over the tv I think it did add to the atmosphere.
