No, it has nothing to do with Einstein's theories.

It is a slight of hand magic trick.

 

Nothing to do with science either. Videos are much easier than up close, but I suspect this guy could do it personally or with the video.

Well, that depends on whether the question is sincere or not.

Basically, it's a magic trick, of course.

However, the theory of relativity does say that energy can be converted into mass, according to the relation Energy equals the mass times the speed of light squared.

That formula is indeed correct and makes it clear that the small amount of energy supplied by the magician is not enough to generate enough mass to make 3 or 4 new tiles.

 

I know, the purist in me doesn't like to see threads filed in the wrong place.

I haven't flagged it yet, but I'm thinking about it.
