Hi there, i am a little bit new to Arduino world and i am thinking of a project that requires controlling an Arduino Uno over Wi-Fi ... i will get the wi-fi shield and set the Arduino as a server, for now i need to control the Arduino from a phone that is connected to the same Wi-Fi network , will i need an actual Internet Connection to get this done ?

    thanks for your time :)

No, because you will be using wireless LAN that you already own.
