I just got my first PicKit 3 with the a demo board with a PIC18F45K2o on board.

I am anxious to get started.

What flavor of the C compiler should I install? Standard, Lite, evaluation? I understand the code is not as optimized after the evaluation runs out so I might as well start with that.

I am not seeing any schematics in the Debug Express Lessons. Am I missing something?

I assume I solder right to this board? Am I better off wiring in a connector and then connecting it to a bread board/

Do I need to supply a voltage or will the debugger power the PIC when connected? The quick start instructions seems to say I need to supply power.

I am not seeing a crystal.

Should I have just bought a chip and bread boarded that?

Well I just answered my own question for the schematic. The LEDs and everything you need is already on the board. Wow those are tiny LEDs! :)
