Hi,

I am building a lamp that works based on motion. I am unable to find a basic PIR motion sensor from any stores. I found it on digikey.com but they are very expensive. Can anyone tell me where to find a basic PIR motion sensor?

Thanks,
Mariam

We don't know where you are, since you have not included that information in your profile.

It would do no good to recommend suppliers to you that you could not purchase items from due to where you live.

A local hardware shop or ebay?

Searching 'pir' gives masses of hits, just look through for a lighting control one (as against alarm sensor types).

In some places it may be cheaper to get the most basic light fitting that already has a PIR and throw away the lamp part.

Complete lights are very common, and at least locally (around here) they are cheaper than the more specialised stand-alone lighting PIR devices.
