what to check for equivalent part?

    what about a compatible one of these or equivalent
    SG6841S

    anywhere i can look to get one with cheap shipping and handling or radioshack. something like that

    I'm in Texas

    Mouser does not have any stock on any version of the SG6841.

    However, they might be ordered from Fairchild directly.

    Rochester Electronics has 102 SG6841SZ's in stock:

    mouser is $7 shipping. is there any common one i could get if i asked a tv shop or they should have the same one?

    You really only want to buy from an authorized distributor or the manufacturer itself.

    ...offer parts for cheap with low shipping costs, but that site is in China, and you will likely receive a counterfeit part that will not work at all.

    You can lower your per-item cost for shipping if you combine a number of items in one order.

    Digikey will ship SMALL orders via USPS 1st Class (up to about 1 Oz), but you may find that the per-item prices are higher. Still, if the order is small, you can wind up saving some money.
