Question: before BGA became the standard package for flash memory and DRAM, what were the types of chips used? I'm talking about the old style of dual inline, flat SMT chips found on memory made between the mid 90's through about 2005, before Ball Grid Array. These were found the on old DDR1 and PC100 SDRAM modules as well as early NAND flash before bga became popular?

    ...Or, possibly, SOIC?

By the mid-90's I think DRAMs had outgrown SO packages, but I didn't pay much attention to that level of detail. The ones I recall were J-leads on all four sides.
