BA5406 power amplifier requires a heat sink bigger than that required by the cpu processor ..why is this so ? its a question i was asked in my viva exam .

 

The simple answer is, it needs to dissipate more heat and/or needs to operate at a lower temp, so that a larger sink is needed for a given amount of heat to move.

Also the CPU cooler has a fan for forced air cooling, this makes the heatsink smaller.
