What is the difference between back up genarotor and standby generator?

A standby generator will, well, STANDBY in a running condition ready to seamlessly provide power.
A back up generator needs to be started up first, giving a service interruption.
And that's not a solution but a definition. If someone wants to define these terms differently there's no power in the universe to prevent them from doing so.
