Please can any one tell me what is the order of a filter ? with brief account on how is it implemented in filter design

Hello,

The order of a filter has to do with the amount of dB's the flange per octave of the filter has.
A 1st order has 6 dB/octave flange.
A 2nd order has 12 dB/octave flange.
..
..
A n th order has a n*6 dB/octave flange.

If you want a more practical way to determine the order of a filter count the number of reactive components in the circuit.
