What is isolation transformer

    what is isolation transformer? i often listen this word but i don't know what it is. Could you tell me where it is used?

    it's typically used to isolate one from a large current source. Try 'searching' the term, as this has been discussed many times.

    There is no direct coupling of voltage with a standard transformer. If you were to short one lead of the input to either one of the outputs there would be no result (other than loosing your isolation). When AC mains have a path to the output of the device a very hazardous result can ensue, a simple transformer prevents this.
