    I have a formula which makes no sense to me. Here it is:

    R1 = VbeQ1
    _____

    Ireg - IQ1 / BQ1

    What is the (BQ1)? What do they want to know regarding the base of Q1?

    Thanks.

    My guess is IQ1 is the collector current of Q1.
    BQ1 is β of Q1.

    Yes for sure IQ1 is the Q1 collector current. And BQ1 is a BJT current gain β (beta) also known as hfe. β = Ic/Ib
