    Hello,

    What type of circuits are these? Photo 02-06-2015 00 41 45.jpg Photo 02-06-2015 00 41 52.jpg

    (a) diode is used as a half wave rectifier
    (b) zener diode is used to set trip point of the comparator (open loop OP AMP)

yeah I know what the components do, but i got this work back for corrections and the teacher wanted to know what type of circuit it is?

    Do you still have questions?

Im not sure, I was confused by what he wanted. The questions asked to explain the purpose of the component. I explained it and it was right but he wanted me to add what type of circuit it was.

Fig 1 is a DC power supply. I'll let you refine the description further.

Fig 2 is a battery voltage monitor. I'll let you figure out under what conditions the LED lights.

The first one is a half wave rectifier (like dl324 said).
The LED in the second one will light if the battery can provide more than 6.2 volts. I suppose you can say that it indicates when a battery is sufficiently charged.
