I just replaced my well pump control box as it seemed bad. I was careful to ensure all wiring was hooked up the same as before. I turned the power on and could hear the box humming. I ran out side to listen to the well head. It was not pumping. I came back in the smoke started coming out of the contol box. An reason that might happen? Could it be the wrong size control box?

 

Wired wrong perhaps! What size was the box? Got a wiring diagram or at least some significant information to go on like the color of the control box?

 

The pump motor could be bad as well.

 

Seems like what broke the first control box also broke the second control box. Time to pull the pump or get is a well expert.
