    Hye folk,

    I connected logitech webcam C270 with VMware ( Ubuntu 14.04) on window system. I can see web cam is connected with system. I installed cheese software for record the video.

    $ ls dev/video* show me dev/video0 and

    $ lsusb show me following results:

    Bus 001 Device 006: ID 046d:0825 Logitech, Inc. Webcam C270
    Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
    Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0e0f:0002 VMware, Inc. Virtual USB Hub
    Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0e0f:0003 VMware, Inc. Virtual Mouse
    Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

    so webcam is connected with system but when i open cheese software, it is appear only blank black screen. I updated my Os as well as i reboot the system after installing cheese.

    Why it is behave like this? Is it problem associate with cheese or web cam?
    Kindly solve my problem. Waiting your response.

    Have you tried to run Cheese as root?

    I don't know Linux, but shouldn't your webcam appear on bus 002 if it's running on VMware?
