It's a remote for a projector.

Technically it already has the button but it does not/ever have worked. I also want the standby button to work for my DVD player, I just want to know where to start.

That is not the model of your remote. Have you tried to find a replacement remote? Since it "never worked", have you called Sanyo's support to resolve that problem?

You are going to need to find which IR code the projector is expecting to see in order to activate the standby mode.

Search for your projectors IR Codes.

Once you have them, you can use a microController, a transistor, and an IRLED , a Battery, a regulator, and a push button.

That will do it.

The uC will pulse the code to the IRLED. The projector will see the IR Pulse Train it is expecting to see for standby mode and all is good in the world.

OR, you can call the manufacturer and get a replacement remote.

Do any of the other functions work on the remote? Is it programmable?
