Hi,
ive been taking the voltage reading off 2 AA(1.2V) Batterys in series,
for some reason today its gone up to 2.65V this morning ,
then 2.79V this afternoon,
i am using lights on the output which were dim at 2.65V,
the Multimeter is a robust one,
still im not sure what else could be the cause!,?,

Typical NiCD or NiMH rechargeables, when fully charged can reach as high as 1.45V each.
Too much more and they would be considered overcharged. A rechargeable battery with a open terminal voltage of 1.20V would be nearly half discharged.

check the battery of the meter, or change the battery.

I have two cheap meters that register higher than actual voltage when the meters' battery goes low.
