voltage help

Hi,I am working on a camera a sony dsc-w80 I would like to use a different battery than stock. the battery is a 3.6V 960 mAh the sony specs gives me max voltage 4.2V norminal 3.6V Capacity 3.4 wh 960 mAh
I would like to use 1 four AA battery pack. What I think there is two voltage comes to the camera from the stock battery. The camera has three contacts for the battery. Can you help me? I am green Thanks

If you use 3 AA NiMh batteries, you get the 3.6 volts and higher capacity. Using 4 AA alkalines gives 6 volts, 4 NiMh gives 4.8 volts - both too much.

I would want to find out from Sony about the three contacts before making assumptions about their functions.
