    Hi,
I am interested in Digital VLSI design... I know basic stuff about semiconductors, gates, latches and the like....

However I have little or no idea about the actual physical design and layout process.......

I went through your forums and found that most people had suggested we start with the following book-

    Uyemura
    Eshragian & Weste
    Rabaey, Chandrakasan & Nilkolic

My query is, which one of these books would you suggest as a first read for a complete novice like me(as these books are rather expensive)...

    Thank you...

No problem. The Weste and Harris book is by far the best I have come across on this topic.

There is also some good information on VLSI fabs in the appendices of Sedra and Smith.

    Hi dave,
    I have one more query.........
one of my friends has the Uyemura book......
Can i have it as a secondary reference or would you rather I stick with a single book......?
