I was doing study of various application of VCO across i read that it sweeps frequency means what does it do actually?

It means that the VCO starts at a base frequency and changes the frequency (increasing or decreasing) to a limit and resets to the base frequency prior to starting another cycle. The sweep can be linear, log, or some contrived waveform. Frequency limits are set by the VCO innards.

Applications in which this is used, include RADAR, RF applications, and frequency response testing of IC's, among other things.....

Works great for audio amplifiers, too! :p

Don't forget a core component of a phase locked loop!

Thank you all of you. Means it is usually used to increase the frequency. Whether in PLL or in Audio amplifier.
