    Just acquired a General Radio Co IMGP6754.JPG Variac Type V 2 2 amp.

    What is it worth ?

    Anyone interested ?

    I had the same one. Its not really worth anything until you clean the carbon brush marks and mount it into a can with power cord and and electrical outlet. - maybe an LED to indicate it is on. By that time, you invested $20 to $40 in cord, box, outlet and plug and time. Better off buying a one in a chassis - for $50.

    Would be handy to control the speed on a small motor such as that on a Unimat lathe.

    I mounted mine to the bottom of a coffee can and added a junction box on each side (switch and fuse on left, outlet on right).

    No, lawsuits - just send a $5 to your favorite charity or give it to the next homeless person that looks like they could really use it.

    I used the pinch type conduit connectors to clamp the junction boxes to the can. Coffee Cans are hard to find these days.
