Hi to all, I am looking for a circuit to use with a solar panel, so what I need is a dc to dc conveter that has a variable input of voltage, for example from 12 V to 8 V and I need a single non variable output like 7 V any ideas and schematic would be greatly appreciate.

    Try a buck converter.

If you provide more detailed information such as the maximum output current from your solar panel and something about your load (battery charger, motor, resistive load like a light bulb, LED light, radio receiver or transmitter...etc) including the preferred voltage and the load's current requirements, I am sure somebody will be able to come up with an example.

well the panel Characteristic are: 8V open voltage and 650mA short circuit, dimensions: 7.09x8.66 , weight: 0.5049 lbs, I have yet to decide what kind of battery to use, but what I am trying to do is to controll a servo motor to move the panel !! any ideas on the motor and the battery as well, I would be really nice if someone could help me !!!
