Using Registers as memory chip ?

    Hello people ..

    is possible to implement a 4 x 4-bit memory using the 4-bit parallel-in / parallel-out Register ??

    the memory-like circuit will be able to store 4 words (each word is 4-bit), there will be 2-bit address decoder ( 00 for word no 1, 01 for word 2, 10 for word 3 and finally 11 for word no 4),

    so decoder will select the 4bit word , using a switch , i will be able towrite data to the registers .. by another switch I will be able to extract the bits stored ..

    any sort of help is really appreciated ...

    hmm , I would like some explanation on how to setup the circuit .. please ?

    It might be easier to draw than to explain. Look up the 4:1 multiplexer. These will take the one output bit from each of the four registers to produce the output. So you will need four of them.

    allow me to explain ..

    I have attached a multisim file , please open it to understand my need ..

    J1 is a push button, What I want to happen is to have the button pushed down which will be encoded into BCD , BCD stored on the register , BCD to 7 Segment will read the stored BCD and display it ... now that read value shall remain on the screen untill somehow I erase it or enter new input ... please what should i do ?
