I'm making a project using a Picaxe microcontrollers but I don't have a serial port and I don't want to an adapter, so I'm asking what do I need to convert USB to Serial? I search the web and I found some FTDI chips but I don't know if they can provide the right amount of voltage to the circuit, due to the special voltage levels used by RS232, can they provide that voltage?

    Thx...

You'll need a transceiver... I am sure FTDI has some examples on their website, Just look at their eval modules datasheet for example schematics.

    Also look here:

    http://www.rev-ed.co.uk/picaxe/

    They have a USB interface.
