UNI-T 81B Scopemeter Problem

Hey all -- I blew the capacitance meter on my new scopemeter by trying to measure a hot circuit -- 12V 1A to be precise.

Now the meter reads .243 nF all the time, except for jumps when removing contacts from a cap.

Is this something I can fix or will I have to eat it?

I have one of these, but I'm afraid I haven't been brave enough to look inside yet.

If there you have any questions about measurements on a working one ask and I will try to obtain them for you.

If the rest of the funtions are working you haven't blown the input fuse.

As a warning to others I did notice the sequence of available functions on the rotary switch is

Off
Volts
Ohms
Hertz
microamps
milliamps
amps
capacitance
Off

Having to pass Ohms to get from volts/off to other ranges is a worry. So far I have always disconnected the lead when doing this, which is a nuisance when switching back and fore between HZ and volts.
