Type of Sensors to Cut Power When Moved Past A Certain Point

Hey guys new to the forum but I have a question. I'm working with nitiniol springs which is a shape memory alloy and I'm using to pull stuff so you connect power to the two ends of the spring and it contracts back to its original shape. The thing is I have multiple nitinol springs linked up on the power source its like a parallel circuit so basically I want to cut power off to each nitinol spirng once it reaches original shape through a sensor at where the spring should be at once it reaches normal shape. If power stay to it, it gets to hot and reshapes the spring.

Thanks,

A suitable microswitch could directly switch the power.
A magnet and reed or hall switch or a slotted opto-switch would also do the job, but would need a relay or MOSFET to switch the power.
