Hi,

I recently purchased a car that came with a secondary marine battery mounted. I go on road trips a lot, so I intend to use it to charge my electronics, like laptop and cell phone. The thing is, the guy who put it in didn't do it correctly and the marine won't charge. It basically used up the initial charge it had when it was bought and hasn't refilled since. I looked around and the marine has its neg connected to the frame for ground, and the pos is connected to the starter (not the starter battery, but the engine starter).

It's a nice feature to have and I would have to get rid of the battery just because the wiring is not proper. I was thinking of redoing the whole thing. What do I need and how do I hook them up? One important detail is that the starter battery is 12 V and the secondary marine battery is 6V.

The first question I would have is why a 6v battery was installed on a 12v system auto, unless the starter had been changed out to a 6v?
Max.
