HELLO,
I have a 1HP water pump in my home. I am designing an automatic water level controller.I have chosen T2035H (TRIAC from st electronics),from the data sheet i came to know that it can withstand upto 30A(RMS).Will this TRIAC withstand the starting current of my motor(it's a single phase induction motor of 1HP).
I can make a guess that a one HP motor under 230v ac can sink about 5A of current under a worst power factor of 0.6. but i don't think my motor posses such a worst power factor .All are clear but what about the starting current?
it's a capacitor start motor and will consume about 5 times the normal current during staring period.

here is the data sheet,

but i want to eliminate snubber circuits, so i thought of using snubberless triac. In fact i am not gud in snubber circuits.

For such motors, what beenthere suggested is the best.
You will eventually burn up normal triacs.

Where do u want to use a snubber?
