I have been trying to find out for a long time but have not found the right
answer. This is regarding line drivers.I actually have to transmit data from a micro controller(8051) to a very long distance say 50m and the transmission rate is like 1 bit per sec.I would like to know if i actually need a line driver for such transmission and if so which one should i use and how many repeaters shall i use? In that case what sort of receiver shall i be using?

I look forward for getting an answer to my query.

    Thanking you all,

    Venu Madhav.

It's probably safer to use one. You could use RS422 transceiver, which would give you the possibilities of higher bit rate and longer distance.
