Transistor switching frequency MOSFET

How do you determine an appropriate transistor switching frequency for a MOSFET? I am designing a power converter for a DC motor with four quadrant operation and I am struggling to work out a suitable switching frequency.

For a motor, normally you make it fairly low for good efficiency, perhaps a few hundred Hz, but if there's any concern about audible noise, you may want it above 20KHz.
