A current buffer is a device that can supply more current than the device that drives it. A transistor can be used as a current buffer because the collector and emitter allow more current to flow than it requires to drive its base conncetion.

Hi,
Attached is a typical current buffer ckt using a single 2N2222 transistor. This particular circuit is intended for signals that have a DC component that never dips below 0.7VDC including any AC component. This same ckt will work with AC only signals, but you'll need bias resistors on the base and then AC couple the AC signal with a series capacitor. See the attached png image file.
