Dear All,

I have the following scenario given to me:

Scenario 1:

A complete skid comes with the following equipment ie motors , pumps, transformers and dc rectifiers .

Scenario 2: In the event that the DC rectifier unit is placed 100 meters away from the skid, what shall I do to maintain that operating conditions in Scenario 1 are maintained.

I have come up with the following solutions:

1. In order to minimize power loss the original cable in Scenario 1 has been re sized in order to cater for power losses due to distance that electricity has to travel before it reaches the equipment.

2.Another solution that has been suggested is to increase the size of the transformer in order overcome the power loss.

3.A combination of both 1 and 2 combined.

My question is
a.How sound are each of the solutions on technical grounds?

b.How can I present the 3 solutions that I have stated above in mathematical formulas and in doing so choose the best solution that would result in the most economical design in dollars and cents

Looking forward to your assistance.

Thanks
