I am using this transformer
http://www.dongan.com/Portals/0/A06-SB6.pdf

And what I am trying to accomplish is for it to produce 600vdc.
I know it's a AC transformer.
However according to the schematics it's a 1:50 ratio.
So I thought that just putting a 12vdc to the primary would work.
And it does for a tenth of a second.
Then it shuts off. I get ip to 200vdc on a volt meter.

Is there any way that get this thing to stay continuously on?

I appreciate any help in advance.

Hello,

Transformers are not intended to be used with DC voltages.
In the datasheet you have given an AC voltage of 60 Hz is used.

You have the answer. Repeat what you did electronically. Put the voltage to the primary, remove the voltage, put the voltage ...... - "switching" the voltage On and OFF.

You can use a transistor to do this. And improve on this to develop an DC to AC "Invertor".

As bertus mentioned, you do this at 60 Hz for efficient use of this transformer.
