I'm doing some research and i'm wondering how some of the touch screens that are out there, specifically on Vartouch's optical imaging touch screen works. The descriptions i've read just isnt enough for me to get how it physically gets the positional data needed. the link to their website is http://www.vartechsystems.com/products/voi.asp

The "scanning optical cameras" sense a finger as a point at a X-Y coordinate. That X-Y position maps onto the display in the same way as the mouse pointer.

Take a look at the material on touchscreens at the Wikipedia website.

    I hate touch screens. :p

At a former workplace, we received an Agilent network analyzer with a touch screen, and I couldn't get my supervisor to keep his cotton pickin' fingers off the doggone thing, and it would have fingerprints all over it. Just what I needed, another distraction. :p
