Heres a different version of the same circuit for you to try which gives you adjustable timing
Thanks for that schematic. I am actually thinking of making it into an adjustable circuit, but I will be using a 10k potentiometer instead of you 100k, but that is just because I don't need that big of a window. The roughly 11 seconds I will gain with it will be good for me. Otherwise if I were to use that 100k potentiometer I could get around another 110 seconds more....... Tempting but i don't know what I will really do.

as your time delay gets shorter you may need to think of edge triggering your 555 also if you add a 10k resistor between pin 4 and 8 with a switch to ground you can inhibit your 555 if you want-Also as well as edge triggering you may need switch debounce as well
