What are Thumbwheel switches? How do they work? How many input and output terminals are there? Whats their cost?

    Hello,

It also depends on what type you want to have.
Is it BCD coded or just a selector switch ?

    Greetings,

    Hello,

Attached is a datasheet from purdy about different types of thumbwheel switches.

The encoder inside the thumbwheel swicth looks like the one in this page.
    http://mechatronics.mech.northwestern.edu/design_ref/sensors/encoders.html

In stead of openings and closed parts for the optics it will be copper or blank parts.
There will be two wipers on each track for the contacts.

    Greetings,
    Bertus
