Thermal printer not communicating with Mother board Troubleshooting

hello friends
Can you advise me how to trouble shoot a OEM mother board of coin operated height machine .It is was communicating well with the thermal printer
and it has stopped communicating any more.It uses serial ports.
Let me know if you require any additional information to help be better Ramputty
