The next generation of 555s

    It needs 1.05 volts minimum to startup, it'll function down to .9 but still, nice little device. It'll basically beat a AA battery till it's dead =)

    I could however see cell recover becoming an issue with repetitive slow acting restarts of a device during the end of the capacity of the cell, kind of like I've seen Joule thieves blink when the operating load is high enough to drop the voltage down bellow it's minimum level, but the cell will recover to the point to reactivate. I had one that blinked for a week.

    I'd rather use a lithium cell with its native voltage WAY above this kind of threshold level. I'm sure it'll find plenty of niche markets, but at 36 cents a unit it's still relatively speaking expensive.
