Thanks, thatoneguy!

I am one of them "to small for my britches" types ;)

I always got into things that were out of my age group..

My last girlfriend just had her 66th birthday :D

Just kidding ;)

I'm down to 20 min. And during Saturday night, the youngest cat chewed on the power cord.

Lucky for the cat it chewed on the 19vDC side, and didn't got hurt.:)

Lucky for me, I got to buy a new computer.

- why not fix it, you say.
- well, hdd is full of errors, the holder for the monitor is cracked, the cooling fan has stoped cooling, and battery life sucks.

This was my cue to get a new laptop.

Now my daugher, who has the same computer, have some spareparts. :)

thank you, thank you!

Yes, this machine is quite capable.

With ubuntu 10.04, This boots from power off, in 13 to 15 seconds, to on-line and surfing ;)
From sleep, lid closed, to on-line, is about 5 seconds.

The 4 gigs of ddr3 is quite quick, the only thing I could have done, but would have affected battery life, is gotten a faster HDD. This is a 640GB, 5400RPM drive.. A 7200 RPM was available, but at 3.5 hours of runtime.. AND, with 4 gigs of memory, the access to the drive is minimal. If I planned on running windows, with a huge pagefile, I would need a faster drive.

Needless to say, this is a great machine. VERY happy with it.

Our duck and her boyfriend the cat are just outside my door on the deck. The cat is laying on top of the duck's head. It's hilarious -- I'll have to get a picture one of these days. Buddy, the cat, is just about the most love-starved cat we've ever had.

They both wish you a happy birthday!

Thank the duck and cat for the birthday wish for me.

An extended cheek scratching should do for the cat, but the duck, I have no idea. Maybe a nice food based treat?

Get a picture, I would love to see it.
