I'm interested in experimenting with THz-range EM waves. What sources and sensors would be within reach of a hobbyist especially a cheapskate like me?

(Hint: This http://almaobservatory.org/ would be outside my budget!)

    Not reasonable for a hobbyist.

Come down to the kHz range, which is entirely do-able.

Yeah, it could be called infrared, but changes in technology and applications have made it stand out as its own thing, to some extent. Single-digit THz is below IR but above microwaves, according to some definitions.

So, I will concentrate my effort on getting rich!
