As someone that is directly involved with the repair, sale, and distribution of said TVs, I would have to disagree with your statement.

 

Why...Plasma here are obsolete. I rarely know what is mostly sold in other countries.
I deal with LCD's mostly u know

Plasma is big and generate too much heat, and is difficult to repair at component level.
That is why Maldives does not import plasma now. Every one is switching to LCD's
