Hi, I was wondering if somebody can help me understanding Switching Principals. Our teacher only does notes and no book and I can't find info. online so far.

Here is a pictures. The first one ist he wiring diagram and the 2nd is the routing diagram.

Then #3 and #4 is an example of a problem. So on problem 3 he wants us to say that S3 would be connected to the Hot and Neutral. Then so on.

I understand by looking at #1 that the hot would be between the switch and source, but I am so confused on how to read the problems on #3 and #4.

If you have any help you could give I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Problem #3 means that there are 3 switches in series

Problem #4 means that there are 2 switches in series with the thing called R5.
