One gets elastical x-ray scattering from (00l) planes when the Bragg angle \theta_B satisfies the Bragg formula, and when the structure factor S(00l) is different from 0.

I'm trying to find the structure factor S(001).

    S(001)=f_A(2+2exp(-j\pi) + f_B(2exp(-j\pi/2) + 2exp(-j3\pi/2))

    How come this is zero?
