    7. STM is normally run in one of two modes, the constant tunneling current mode or the constant height mode. Statement: The constant tunneling current mode is normally preferred over the constant height mode.

    Because it reduces the risk of crashing the tip.

    Because the tunneling current and the bias voltage have to be ten times larger in the constant height mode.

    No, the above statement is wrong. The constant height mode is normally preferred over the constant tunneling current mode because the constant height mode is much safer for the tip and also gives much better resolution
